Best Places to Live in Toronto

Toronto is a huge, sprawling city which offers any number of neighbourhood-characteristics and different lifestyles.

Our criteria for selecting good places to live may seem pedestrian to our more avant-garde readers, but they are focused around the fact that the majority of people prefer living in areas with low crime rates, good schools for their children - if they have any - and good access to the downtown (central city) area of Toronto.

We'll specify what we think are some of the best places to live in Greater Toronto. If we don't mention somewhere, that doesn't mean you should strike it off your list. There are a large number of neighbourhoods you could choose in Greater Toronto that meet our criteria. From these, we've picked our personal favourites and listed them in alphabetical order.

You should consider our suggestions as starting points. Some places we suggest, such as Markham, have large populations. Even though we think Markham - and others - are great places to live, they can be big places, and you will naturally find some neighbourhoods suit you better than others.

Farther from the city there is more space for new homes to be built, so you will find much of the area's rapid population growth has been accommodated in places outside the city of Toronto but within commuting distance of downtown Toronto.

Many new-build homes have appeared in Richmond Hill, Markham, Vaughan and a number of other areas. These are often referred to as cookie-cutter developments on the basis that the houses have as much individuality as cookies cut using the same cutter. These developments of detached, family homes tend to offer smaller gardens and less individuality in housing styles than older developments. Nevertheless, the rooms in these houses can be generously sized and the developments offer many families all the facilities they want and the opportunity to experience a considerably better lifestyle than their home countries could offer.

The Best Places to Live in Toronto:

Toronto Streetcar

The Beaches

The Beaches lies on the shore of Lake Ontario, just a few kilometres east of Toronto's financial/commercial district. Streetcars from the Beaches take half-an-hour or so to reach the commercial district. The area offers its residents (and large numbers of visitors) a thriving, family friendly, cafe culture, with plenty of restaurants and bars. The area can become too busy at times for some residents.

Most of the Beaches' 20,000 residents have British Isles ancestry. Britons and other Europeans continue to make up the majority of newcomers. About one-tenth of the Beaches population is made up of visible minorities - the main groups are Chinese and South East Asian.

You will need to budget in the region of $1 million to buy an average detached home in The Beaches, and more for the most sought after parts. $500,000+ will buy you a typical semi-detached house. Crime levels in the sometimes very busy Beaches, while never high, are not as low as in our other choices.

Bloor Village West/ Roncesvalles/ High Park

Bloor Village West, Roncesvalles and High Park are three different neighbourhoods which lie adjacent to one another. Housing in all of these areas is expensive - expect to pay over $750,000 for an average, detached home. Most of the population in each of the neighbourhoods has British Isles ancestry.

Bloor Village West is known for its quiet, leafy streets. It has plenty of restaurants and bars and lies about 30 minutes from Toronto's commercial district by subway. About one-sixth of Bloor Village West's population are visible minorities - the main groups are South East Asian and Chinese.

Roncesvalles was once known as Toronto's Polish neighbourhood. Again, it is a leafy area with large, traditional homes in quiet streets. Homes are cheaper here than in the adjoining High Park. Expect to pay over $750,000 for an average, detached home. About one-third of Roncesvalles' population are visible minorities - the main groups are South East Asian and Chinese.

High Park's centrepiece is the 400 acre park from which the neighbourhood takes its name. Families who can afford million dollar homes and who want the convenience of a location close to the commercial heart of the city but with plenty of trees and parkland gravitate to High Park. About one-sixth of High Park's population are visible minorities - the main groups are South East Asian and Chinese.

These neighbourhoods have good transport connections and are about 20-30 minutes from Toronto's business district in rush hour.

Burlington at Christmas

Burlington

The city of Burlington lies on the shore of Lake Ontario about 50 km (30 miles) south-east of Toronto. From Burlington the GO train takes 45 to 50 minutes to reach Union Station in the heart of Toronto.

Most of Burlington's population of 170,000 have British Isles ancestry. Less than ten percent of the population are visible minorities.

The city's residents enjoy the use of almost 3,000 acres of park land, eight golf courses, four indoor and two outdoor pools, three splash pads, seven ice pads, and six community centres.

A typical detached house in Burlington will cost $500,000+.

Leaside

Leaside is regarded as one of Toronto's top areas. It is a wealthy, leafy area known for its quality of life, good schools and convenient access to Toronto's commercial heart by road (The Bayview extension). Leaside homes are expensive - you will need to budget over $1 million for an average, detached home in sought after streets here. You should budget $600,000+ for an average semi-detached home.

Most of the current population has British Isles ancestry and it remains a popular choice with wealthier British immigrants.

About one-tenth of Leaside's population are visible minorities - the main groups are South East Asian and Chinese.

Markham

The town of Markham lies about 17 km (10 miles) or half-an-hour by GO train north of Toronto's commercial centre. 30 years ago, Markham was a small, semi-rural town but since then it has grown remarkably quickly.

At the time of the 2006 census, Markham's population was 261,000 and it has been growing since by an average of about 10,000 people each year. The town claims for itself the title of Canada's high technology capital - with some justification, given the presence of Apple, IBM, Lucent, Motorola, Toshiba and Sun Microsystems amongst others.

Buyers should budget over $600,000 for a typical, detached home in Markham or about $400,000 for a semi-detached house.

About two-third's of Markhams' population are visible minorities. More than half of Markham's population is Chinese or South Asian by ancestry and the town is a popular choice with Chinese/Hong Kong immigrants.

Snow in Suburban Toronto

Oakville

The town of Oakville lies on Lake Ontario's shore, about 35 km (22 miles) or 35 minutes by GO train, south-west of Toronto's commercial centre.

Oakville's prosperous population is predominantly of British Isles ancestry and the town remains popular with newcomers from the UK. Visible minorities make up slightly less than one-fifth of the population - the main groups are South East Asian and Chinese.

The town has 2,500 acres of parkland, good schools, large numbers of play areas for children and two boating marinas.

Older homes tend to lie at the southern end of the town, closer to the lake. A large number of new houses have been built in the northern part of Oakville and these cost less than those in the southern part of town. Buyers should budget about $600,000+ for a typical, detached home in Oakville - although homes tend to be more expensive in the older part of town, nearer the waterfront.

Richmond Hill

The town of Richmond Hill lies about 25 km (15 miles) or half-an-hour by GO train, north of Toronto's commercial centre. At the time of the 2006 census, the town's population was 162,000 and growing rapidly.

Richmond Hill's prosperous population have diverse backgrounds, with visible minorities making up half of the population. The main minority groups are Chinese and South East Asian.

Richmond Hill has over 166 parks offering facilities such as nature trails, playgrounds, sports and athletic fields, picnic areas, tennis courts. The town also has 1360 acres of natural, environmental area for recreation.

About $600,000 - $750,000 buys a typical, detached house in Richmond Hill. Typical semi-detached houses cost $375,000 - $475,000.

Vaughan

The city of Vaughan lies about 21 km (13 miles) north of Toronto's commercial centre.

At the time of the 2006 census, the town's population was 238,000 and growing rapidly. Vaughan's population was just 30,000 in 1981. It is expected to exceed 300,000 by 2021.

The city's largest employers are the Wonderland amusement park, which employs more than 3,000 people, and UPS (United Parcel Services) employing 2,000 people.

More people in Vaughan identify themselves as Italian or Jewish by origin than by any other ethnicity. Visible minorities make up just over a quarter of the population. The main minority groups are Chinese and South East Asian.

Buyers should budget around $550,000 to $650,000 to buy a typical detached house in Vaughan or about $425,000 for a semi-detached house. Detached houses account for almost 80 percent of all residential property in Vaughan.

When faced with the alternatives or even when you compare yourself or see someone who's REALLY not catching a break, you'll realize that when you say "fU6k my life", you're being a little dramatic.

If you have always wanted to buy a bike, DO IT.

We hope that all of our readers had a safe and happy Holiday Season. 2011 is a new year, full of new possibilities and experiences. This year, I've decided to set goals for the new year - not just one set resolution. I figure, why limit myself?? My list consists of 12 goals that will help me to achieve a larger one - a more fulfilling life. If you haven't already set new years goals or are looking to revamp your current one, here are somet tips on how to make your resolutions attainable.

1. Consider making smaller resolutions that will help you achieve a larger goal.

2. Allow for Change. Things may not always go as planned, so don't give up - leave room to refurbish your goal(s) if needed.

3. Measure your resolution(s) on a weekly or monthly basis. This will help you to determine whether or not you are actually getting closer to your goals or not moving forward at all.

4. Reward yourself. Once you have achieved your goal(s), reward yourself to keep up the motivation and move forward.

Is anyone upset that winter is here. I am not a fan of winter and my skin is not either.

As I sit here at work with three shirts on and the heat all the way up, I contemplate moving to a hotter country down south.

Sure there is more crime and lesser jobs, but come on !!!!! Who needs money when you have fun in the sun.

With all jokes aside, I watch everyone pile into the neighbourhood Tim Hortons and Starbucks.

I watch people warming up their cars, and getting on and off the bus. As I get my jacket on and take a deep breath before waking

up in the morning. I think to myself, maybe I am in need of a warmer jacket or a warmer vacation.

Hopefully, things will warm up soon.

As it nears the end of yet another year coming down from the high of Christmas its hard not to reflect on the past 365. Can't help but be reflective and think back about what went well, what went wrong, what can be done better. While its good to learn from and think about the past its better not to dwell on it and to continue to move forward using these life lessons as your guide.
Why then knowing all of this do I still become a victim of my own thoughts?
At times the decisions I make one minute will be drastically different than those I make the next. I have to trick myself into being more decisive. Either I know what I want and I act on it. Or I don't and I think about it, plan my next move and calculate how I will do it and when. But why waste so much in mental limbo?
While still young everyday of this life we live is a gift. Not to sound morbid or preachy but to highlight how real life really is. Some ppl sit think plan then execute for fear of acting too quickly. Others think then act while executing their plan. Time is not then wasted considering all the negative possibilities and hypothetical situations that may or may not present themselves.

On that note
Day 1 of 2009 aka 2000 and mine or 2000 and grind will be different. How do I know? How can you believe that its not just going to be the same as last year? Especially when its only 1 day old. Because not only have I thought about what I want to accomplish this year but I've already started to do it. This year I will write a book a manuscript a journal whatever you want to call it; you're reading it. I'm going to find a legal way to make some extra money which is also in the works as I spoke to my friend today who is sending me some clothes to sell. Order made mailing this week, money to be sent. Finally and most importantly change jobs find something that I will enjoy doing that the stress will not be eating at my young eager driven soul. I am determined to succeed which i'm convinced is the product of hard work and determination.

Over the last year a lot has changed while some things have stayed the same. A love lost a love gained and a lot of lessons learned in between.
You heard me mention the love lost so not going to bore you with the details of that sob story. And you're up to date on the love gained which is on pause. Where do we go from here? Hmm.

Based on the conversation we had new years day the answer is up. We're both challenging ourselves to save as much as we can and progress. The hustler's spirit is not easily learned. Easy to see and believe you can do the same but there has to be a motivator. Find what yours is... To maker the non believers believe to make the your loved ones proud or to prove to yourself that you can.
For me its that I know I deserve and want better for myself. Never been one to settle in life or love so why start now?

Yeah last year was a crazy year of change and uncertainty at times but a new day is upon us... A new year has come and rather than making resolution i'm striving to make history for myself.

Insanity Workout Kicked My Ass!

Yo here is today's joke.

Last nite I decided to workout with my wife on this new cardio workout called "Insanity" hosted by Sean T from the notorious "Hip-Hop Abs".

The night before I sat and watched my wife do a full 30 minute workout in front of me and realized that I have been slacking on my cardio activities.

So last night I decided "hey what the hell, lets do it with Nadia and prove that I still got it."

What I did not know was that this workout was a full 60 minutes with maybe 5 minutes of breaktime in total. Breaktime was alotted to refuelling on water, wiping sweat off your face and back and trying to regain consciousness.

I began the workout following along with my wife and Shaun T, who seemed to be breaking it down pretty smoothly. After about 15 minutes of jumping jacks, lunges, squats and awkward strecthes the "Warm up" was over and now the Exercise would begin.

When I realized that we were just working on the warm up I was shocked, afraid and interested all at the same time.

Not only was my heart beating out of my chest like an AK-47 in West Kingston, but I was sweating like I stole something.

As the workout increased and the moves intensified I began to have what many would call an "outer body experience" in which I was watching myself workout.

My back began to tense up, my legs felt like linguine and my abs were burning something serious.

When it was time for a 30 second water break, I collapsed on the floor and could not move. I mean I was panting and struggling to breath something serious. The funny thing about it was that this was only 20 minutes into the 60 minute workout.

I struggled to keep up with my wife and Shaun T who was not only instructing the viewer on this "Intensity Workout Video", but dominating and running circles around the participants in the video also.

Suddenly, I began to lose my balance and fell hard on my carpeted apartment floor. I lay there for about two minutes, breathing hard and watching my wife continue the workout like she was performing on stage.

10 minutes had passed and in which it dawned on me that I had actually fell asleep instantly due to working out that hard. I was stunned. Not only was I lying on the floor, sweating like a wounded prison guard, I actually passed out and was stone conked on the floor sleeping like a new born baby.

After I came to, I got back up and attempted (with all my strength) to continue the workout. 2 minutes later I was out cold on the couch fast asleep from exhaustion to the sound of my wife's breathing while working out, and Shaun T yelling at us to
" Push Through and Keep going".

Now this was no regular workout video on the beaches of some Caribbea, this is the real thing.

I challenge you to do this Intensity workout.

If you can complete it on your first try i will give you $20.00 cash right away.

When a female is angry, frustrated or annoyed with you, in their minds, this is a free pass to say or do anything they please, regardless of how rude or disrespectful. This may include any or all of the follow: hang up the phone, walk away from the table in the middle of a restaurant, raise their voice at you, hit you, spit in your face or confide in another man. What many of these woman fail to realize is the possibility that you did not intend to offend or upset them and even more that you may not be aware that you have done so.
At the very least, I think woman (anyone really, but lets focus on woman right now), should speak their mind in a healthy open way, letting their friend, lover, partner, husband or concubine know their feelings or opinion.
Arresting someone who may be guilty of nothing or of many crimes is unjust especially when they are unaware of what crime they have committed and more so if the laws are unknown. Imagine being arrested, detained, castrated for not putting down the toilet seat, being too nice to your girlfriend’s friend, making a joke that she didn’t find funny, smiling to the cashier, mortgage broker, dental hygienist or any female person in the world, without the expressed written consent of your girlfriend or wife, ridiculous right?
I thought so.
Ladies I ask you to check your egos at the door. Stop thinking you can get away with murder because of the power you possess between your legs. While you’re a woman, I’m a man, this does not negate the fact that in order for us to coexist in a civil, loving, progressive way, we need to treat and respect each other as equals and communication is key!

New Year, new attitude, new you....right? Wrong! Every time a new year comes around, we all make resolutions to improve our well being. And the line that follows all too many after they've set their standard for the year, "This year I'm going to stick to it." Resolutions should always be measurable and attainable like any other goal we set in place for ourselves. So, if you really want to follow through with your resolution for 2010, here are some pointers.

Revisit. Is your resolution too vague. If it is, rethink your goal and be more precise about the outcomes that you want and how they can be approached.

Rephrase. Reword your resolution so that you feel confident enough that it can be attained. Trying to do too much too soon will hinder you in the long run.

Refocus. This is your committment to yourself so make it as fun and exciting as you want or need it to be.

Request Help. Now this is a big one. Don't be afraid to ask a friend or family member for help if you need an extra push.

This year was significant for a number of reasons. First of all, it was a year of reflection and relaxation. It has also been a year of exhaustion and sickness.

Murses - What's that, you ask? A man's purse, European carry all, a man bag. All of which seem to have made a triumphant comeback this year replacing the long gone fanny pack. I don't know who thought this was necessary and what prey tell does a man need that can't fit in his pockets?

Bandito Scarves - You know what I'm talking about. The scarves that look like table cloths, usually in white and some printed pattern. Men, woman, children, celebrities, homeless, bankers, drug dealers, were all wearing them. I refused to succumb to the societal pressure and if you did too: Bravo!

Tight Pants - Ohhh how we at twograsshoppers have made our opinion of these garments known throughout the year. If your legs can't breath, if you can't bend your knees when you walk or can't sit down (like Kramer in that episode of Seinfeld), if you put your keys in your pocket and people across the room know you drive a Hyundai, they're too tight.

Wallet Chain - Why? Just Why? Because it provides extra security? NO! It will more likely get you roughed up. Imagine you're a pick pocket and you grab someones wallet, which has a chain attached to it extending to their belt, imagine your annoyance! You would likely pull your victim to the ground by this same leash and beat them for being so lame!

Nerd Glasses and attire - If you don't need glasses why are you wearing them? What's next using a wheel chair because it's easier than walking? Walking with crutches because you only stole the left shoe from Footlocker? You're sending false signals. You might actually have someone stop you and ask you a question because they think you're smart! Don't lead people on, nerd glasses for nerd, I mean people who are near or far sighted.

7. WE'VE FOUND A DEEPER/SPIRITUAL SIDE TO THE GEEK SITTING NEXT TO US.

8. WE'VE SUDDENLY TAKEN UP SMOKING AND BECOME REALLY GOOD AT IT.

9. WE YELL AT THE BARTENDER, WHO WE BELIEVE CHEATS US BY GIVING US JUST LEMONADE, BUT THAT'S JUST BECAUSE WE CAN NO LONGER TASTE THE CHARDONNAY.

10. WE THINK WE ARE IN BED, BUT OUR PILLOW FEELS STRANGELY LIKE THE KITCHEN FLOOR (or the mop ... or THE BATHMAT ?)

11. WE FAIL TO NOTICE THAT THE TOILET LID'S DOWN WHEN WE SIT ON IT.

12. WE TAKE OUR SHOES OFF BECAUSE WE BELIEVE IT'S THEIR FAULT THAT WE'RE HAVING PROBLEMS WALKING STRAIGHT.

With two days left, the Christmas rush is officially on. With this being said, I would
like to remind everyone how fortunate most of us are. This is the season for giving and
sharing with those who don't have much. So, in the midst of rushing through the mall
and completing your Christmas lists, pick up something extra for someone less fortunate.
There are toy, food and clothing drives all around the city. And if buying something is
too much of a hassle find something from home or go online and donate to a charity. If

That's not meant to be a deep, reflective statement, but that's what just came to mind as I sat here and contemplated.

My frustration with woman and dating has been well documented throughout my posts, if you haven't caught on to that, then reread them. But, I can't help but wonder if I'm not partially to blame for the monsters I've created. No, I didn't make them self-conscious, stubborn, bitter, recently divorced, widowed or frustrated with dating, but I have perpetuated those feelings, I think.

It's not easy for me to hold myself accountable for anything having to do with these creatures, but I figured I'd give them some benefit of the doubt and man up.

For example:

If you know that someone is an alcoholic and you invite them to your wine tasting party, you have to hold yourself partially responsible for them falling off the wagon, no?
If you know someone that is "on a diet" and struggling with their food "addiction", maybe having your dinner party at The Mandarin (chinese buffet) was not the best idea?

And in my case:

If I know this person is in to me, while I'm not in to them, more than just for "some fun", yet I continue to "have fun" with them, I should expect some fallout or ramifications to my actions right? The least of which are excessive phone calls, BB msgs, random comments and hints to the feelings or wantings of more.

Let's get real, it's easy for me to take my normal approach, reasoning and thought process, that this person is a grown up, an individual that should be able to make their own choices and life decisions, right?

But, me knowing their weakness to chocolate like a diabetic or for rum to an alcoholic, krytonite to Superman, white girls to black guys, sex to a Eric Benet; should make me more aware and cautious in my actions. I should be more mindful of what I'm doing, saying, inferring or suggestion with my action or inaction.

While I expect this person to know better, to know that this "is what it is", that we are just friends, that "I don't like you like that", I'm sure they also expect me to do the same; ignore the fact that their mouth is not in connection with their actions, that their feelings are free flowing like Niagara Falls, that their emotional instability teamed with their genetic makeup will not allow them to act and be as I am.

This revelation encourages me to, take a breath before blowing my top and take a bigger breath before answering that call or message. Be honest with myself and with them too. Is it really that hard to realize, "I'm just not that into you?"

I thought Christmas was a time about family, friends and good music ? What are you an idiot. Christmas is not about going to Church and being happy that Jesus Christ was born on December.25.2009, it is about rushing into any of the hungry retailers to buy your love for your family and extended family. It is the season of giving, and it encourages everyone to spend money that they don't have.

I personally do not like Christmas due to the media's glorification of consumerism and equating gifts with love. There is no such thing as Santa Claus and I am not, I repeat not raising my nephews or daughter with this Westernized marketing belief.
I figured this out when I was five years old. I had waited until 1 o'clock in the morning for Santa's Bitch ass to make his way down my chimney and did he, hell no. After that, I hated Santa Claus and anyone else stupid enough to believe in him. Similar to the Easter Bunny and any other bullshit marketing scheme I really like to look past all of these things and spend time with the people I love.

Love is not good enough in some cases. I mean what happens when you go to a family function and you don't have a gift for your " Secret Santa" (which is stupid mind you) you probably would be asked to leave or step aside.

Now as for the kids, I understand Christmas is a time to get what you wanted all year and blah blah blah, however if you are old enough to work or save up your allowance and buy it for yourself, don't expect a gift from me. Learn to hustle with your lazy ass.

Seriously though, all jokes aside it is getting worse and worse with this gift giving pressure. This year I don't expect a gift from anyone and won't even be mad if I don't get one. I make enough money so I can buy whatever I want or need on my own. I suggest you adopt the same principle and if your old ass is still expecting a gift like you are 8 years old, keep waiting.

#11 – Jack frost nipping at your everything :: Shopping in cold weather sucks, but so does Christmas in a warm climate (I’m in San Diego…it just doesn’t feel right.)

#10 – Starbucks is the most festive place on earth :: With 6 disgustingly festive drinks, 10 holiday mix/remix CD’s, and a plethora of decorations and themed mugs, its almost the perfect place to shop for loved ones (relax…I said almost!)

#9 – Christmas lights cannot be left up all year :: It would be so much easier if we could just turn them off and leave them up for the other 11 months, but noooo!

#8 – There is no Santa! :: When you’re an adult, wish lists are like holiday order forms. You might as well give me a gift card and save me the effort of returning the uh…”surprise” you bought for me on the 24th.

#7 – There are not enough weekends in December :: People have started to send out “save the date” emails in October… that’s just not right.

#6 – Jingle guilt, jingle guilt, jingle makes you pay :: The same sad looking little old men and women get posted by the salvation army every year to ring jingle bells that remind us that we are evil if we don’t put something in the big red bucket.

#5 – There’s no tradition of dressing slutty :: Ladies, you do it for Halloween, why not Christmas. I’d be very happy to unwrap a present with little more than a bow on it.

#4 – Egg Nog and Brandy :: Contrary to popular belief, this combination makes NO ONE happy. Not even grandma.

#3 – Hoe Hoe Hoe :: Because Christmas music has no shame and you get the Top 5 Christmas Rap Albums featuring “Christmas on Death Row”…really?

#2 – You get judged by the size of your package :: Good things come in small packages only works if its jewelry.

Thinking of starting a business?

Keep the following in mind:

Accept the demoralizing stage. Starting out in business with no reputation and little experience will lead to rejections. But accept this dim period, it’s this stage that separates the wannabes from the gonna-bes. So be prepared to be treated unfairly at the start until the unfairness is tired of bothering you.

Accept feeling lonely. When starting out in business you usually have more responsibility than your friends or family. But you must accept this so that you can use the all your time to achieve your goal.

Setbacks. No matter how many plans you write, how many qualifications you have on your C.V. making mistakes in business is set in stone. So don’t hold yourself back by being afraid to make mistakes, instead release yourself into the unknown and learn.

Working longer hours. When working for yourself it’s vital that you stay on top of things. With less capital than large corporations, you need to get a lot of work done by yourself. In order to do this you need to utilize your full 24 hours effectively.

Facing your fears. When starting a business getting results will usually call for you to step out of your comfort zone. But, in order to move to the next level, you will have to get used to facing your fears. This might feel nerve wracking but when you get rewarded for your hard efforts with cash I’m sure you’ll look back on those awkward situations with a smile.

Friends with benefits do not work. Ever! Doubt me? Here are the reasons why.

There is an expiry date. While this may work for both of you know, it will eventually get old. Not because you want the other person to be your significant other, but because as humans our natural inclination or focus is for some form of progress. A stagnant relationship based purely on sexual interaction will be fun and enjoyable until you hear about or see your peers enjoying real, grown up relationships.
One of you will break the deal. In any relationship of this nature, it is understood that this is a purely physical agreement, however, regardless of how many times this is reiterrated, one of the parties will break the deal and invite their emotions to the bedroom. This is not the type of threesome your partner was suggesting.

They never end well. Either for the reasons above or the one I'm about to mention, they never end well. Ultimately the friend with benefits is just a place holder, a seat filler, someone holding a spot in line. So when you do meet someone that you actually want to have a relationship with, or see a future with you end your arrangement with you friend. This will leave them upset, feeling cheated, disappointed that you didn't pick them.

Feelings could develop.That's very true, they could. Ed McMahon could bring a suitcase of money to you (instead of that stupid oversized sweepstakes cheque) and pigs could be the ultimate form of flight transportation in the future. Sorry excuse my scenism, but I'm a strong believer in self fulfilling prophecies. If I have in my mind that you're just a "toy" I'm going to think of you that way, it'll be hard for me to adjust my thinking to treat you like a true potential mate all of a sudden.

Sex is not enough. Although this is the cornerstone of this whole arrangement. It's not enough. One day your friend will say something that makes you question their intentions or is a complete turn off or you find disrespectful and you'll think to yourself, the sex just isn't worth it. As you mature, your priorities change, you may learn self control and you may realize sex is not a need but rather a want.

These are the reasons why I don't think these arrangements are such a good idea. What are your thoughts? Do you think friends with benefits can co-exist for an extended period? Is it ok to go on dates with your "friend"? Why was this ever thought to be a good idea?

Do you have the balls ? Balls is metaphorically a word used for immense courage, many people expect to get results by being courageous, however are never courageous enough to actually make the changes necessary to get those results. So for the rest of the year I challenge all of our readers to accept the " balls out " technique and be courageous with us here at Two Grasshoppers.

3. Stand up to your boyfriend/girlfriend
4. Go out to a club by yourself
5. Go for a long walk in unfamiliar surroundings

9. Raise your child once it is born instead of running like a chicken with their head cut off

Simply do anything that scares you or makes you feel uncomfortable. There is nothing to be afraid of except fear itself. Always remember you create this fear and no one else. I know you can overcome your fears if you want to. You just have to be willing to face those fears.
