Yesterday, Tamil demonstrators took over the
Gardiner Expressway in a bid to raise concerns over
the civil war that is currently destroying Sri Lanka.
Premier Dalton McGuinty was quoted as saying,
"The bloodshed and unrest in that country does not
justify Tamil-Canadians taking over a busy Toronto
highway for six hours." Although there may have
been many upset drivers last night, this affirmative
form of action definitely got the attention of the media
as well as the federal Liberals who have now promised
to raise their concerns in Parliament. If this is what
needs to take place for our concerns to be heard, then I
think we can all learn from last nights events.
