The Countdown

Have you noticed that everything in life seems to be a countdown?

Whether it's the microwave for your food, the days of the week until the weekend, the mileage left in a tank of gas, the number of hours in the day, years until retirement, we as a society seem obsessed with knowing and waiting for the end to come.

I find the whole notion a little depressing; as its not an overly optimistic way of looking at life.

After the countdown is up or hits zero; the question I have is, then what? or what comes next? After you've counted down the week, you hope that there will be another. Why countdown the hours of the day instead of trying to enjoy it the best you can. The constant countdown or reminder of the years left until retirement should be an eye opener to the years left in our life. We all seem so consumed by time and in a rush, next time you find yourself rushing here or "soooo busy", take a moment to wonder why and if its worth it.

Be careful not to wish the day faster, hope the week ends sooner or that the years pass more quickly, because you'll just be wishing your life away.
