They were ostracized by the public and music industry for lip-synching a performance, something that has become quite popular among modern day singers (partially because they don't want to strain their voices during performances or while on tour, more so because many of them can't sing without the aid of a studio engineer).
Either way, let's take a moment to give Milli Vanilli some burn, as they were banished from the music world, way before their time and for what seems like "no good reason" in hindsight.
