Ways to Deal with Life Transitions

Recognize the State you're in
Identify your current state as a "transition" and
understand that this is only a phase, not a long lasting
state of affairs.

Take care of yourself
Shelter, food, rest and relaxation need to take priority
over everything else. Basic needs come first in order to
focus on understanding your life purpose.

Lower your expectations
When you're in transition, you need all of your extra
energy to cope. Instead, trust that things will work out
instead of pushing yourself even harder to achieve. Once
you have dealt with your transition, you will be able to go
full speed ahead.

Open your eyes to the Universe
The world around you contains every solution to every
problem that has occurred so far. Talk to people about
your situation, read as many books as you can, listen to
the radio and tv and surf the net. Eventually the universe
will offer you clues about your next step.

Don't give into the desire to hide
Remind yourself that you are still a person of value even
if you have lost your sense of direction for a time.

Take a day at a time
Don't worry about the big picture right away. Always be on
alert for opportunites that excite you and give you energy.
Energy and excitement always indicate that you might be
on the right track. Take care of yourself physically,
emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Write things down
Writing down your dreams and aspirations is like hanging
up a sign that says 'Open for Business' (Henriette Anne
Klauser). Activity in one area of life generates movement
in other areas. This is a good time to sit and do some
self assessment, because clarifying your inner life hekps to
focus your outer life.
